Hello everyone, I just got back from Lang Tengah two days ago with my friends. It was an amazing and much needed vacation. Definitely chilling and relaxing. Great beach and great company. Absolutely awesome. So, I'm going to do a review on the resort which I stayed in and also the activities which I did while in Lang Tengah. Oh, and also the mode of transportation which I took to get there. Erm, this will be a long post.
That's the style of the chalets. We stayed on the bottom floor. Actually, if you look closely, the chalet with the life jackets was my room.
First of, we took bus and then boat from Summit subang to the jeti in Terengganu (I can't remember what was the name of the place where the jeti was). Erm, the journey there was all right. We were ahead of schedule, reach around China town in Terengganu at around 6a.m. Had breakfast there. Watched a movie, Into The Blue (the Jessica Alba movie) while on the bus, tried my best to sleep, but I couldn't. I usually can't sleep on buses or in hotels on the first night... I miss my bed. Boat ride there was about two hours. The boat ride was allright.
This is the dining area. Buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Food was ok.
So then we arrived at Redang Lang Tengah Resort. After staying for three days and two nights, I think the Resort is so so, but the beach and the water was just beautiful. Crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches. The only thing I can say is that the beach is definitely not meant for swimming. There were corals all over the place. Once you get up till knee deep, you will start stepping on corals, and let me tell you, it is freaking painful. Sharp and jagged, the corals may cut you. I scraped my leg on some corals and came home with a few scars. However, the beach is perfect for snorkeling. Right at the beach there were a whole lot of fishes and live corals. Of course you have to swim out to see the corals and fishes. There were nemo swimming among the sea anemones, and also a whole lot of sea cucumbers. I accidentally stepped on one, it had a very slippery and smooth feeling.
This was my room. Sorry about the mess. I forgot to take a picture of it when we first got there. My bed is the one nearest to the door, and erm, the one with the pillow is my side of the bed.
First day we were there, in the afternoon we went to two snorkeling sites. The sites were all right, couldn't really see that many fishes or corals. I think it was because we were in too deep waters. Nights are always free and easy. Did karaoke on the first night. Their English songs are really limited and old. But its ok. I can only sing English songs, since... I can't speak and read mandarin. My understanding of Mandarin is very limited.
View from the door, it is a very small room, with just two big beds and a toilet. With nothing else in it.
Second day, jungle trekking in the morning. Not to be missed!! I LOVE jungle trekking. I'm a very outdoor-sy kinda person, and I LOVE nature. The trek was good, although a bit dangerous, since there were no safety precaution. At one point in the trek, if you were to fall off the narrow ledge of rocks... well... lets just say that... you would be lucky to be alive... After trekking, we arrived at this beautiful spot where it had huge rocks all the way down to the ocean. The view was amazing. Surrounding us was the forest, in front of us the ocean, and we were standing on the rock edge. Just stunning. On the way back to the hotel, the guide just left us. He went ahead probably with the rest of the group, and me and 7 of my friends plus a German dude (9 of us all together) erm.... left the 'rocky' site late. And we had to trek back to our hotel on our own... I mean, seriously, the guide did not know we were missing... Irresponsible. That was the only part which kinda peeved me off...

This was where we trekked to.
Had lunch, and headed to the marine park in Redang in the afternoon. The journey there by boat was about an hour. The marine park was beautiful. Lots of huge colourful fishes and corals. I saw this fish which was so vibrant and beautiful. Its a waste I don't have an underwater camera. Well, just another thing to add to my wish list, an underwater camera. We paid RM5 for the marine park fees. Worth every Ringgit. Everybody should go to the marine park, it really is beautiful. The only this is that when I was there, the current was kinda strong, so be careful not to get to close to the rocks. Its basically... watch your own backs and take care of yourself, the hotel will not be responsible if you're injured. On the way back from the marine park, we saw a shark, about mabye 3 feet long. So excited, first time I saw a shark in its natural habitat. My next island gateway, I wanna go somewhere where I can see and swim with lots of sharks. Any recommendations?
Crystal clear water. You can actually see my feet. :D
After dinner is free and easy as usual. Played Mahjong and Jirami (I dunno how to spell it). And also... hmm.. A very nice show by two of my friends. One though a dude with long hair was a hot chick. While the other... well... now we all know that the things he cares most about is his stomach, how much weight he carries in the gym, his future, shopping, and that he loves 'chicks'. LOL. It was really funny. Names will not be mentioned, but you know you are.
At night, when we took a walk at the beach.
The next day, time to go home. Departed from the Island at 8.30 a.m. Got on the bus at around 11a.m, but I am very sure we were already in the bus before that, 11a.m is just a rough estimation. I spent my ENTIRE sunday on the bus to get home. It took us 10 hour plus, which is just INSANE!!!! We reached Summit at around 10 o'clock at night, and I got home slightly before 1o.30 p.m. After the bus experience, I am NEVER EVER taking a bus to any east coast island every again!! NEVER!!! The way to travel is to fly!! We were so depressed while on the bus that my friends coined 4 stages of bus depression:
Stage 1: OBS - Obsessive bus syndrome
Stage 2: OBD - Obsessive bus depression
Stage 3: OBPMS - Obsessive bus pre-menstrual syndrome
Stage 4: OBCD - Obsessive bus cell death
Take my word for it, don't ever take bus to an east coast island. Just save your money up and fly. It better for your sanity
You can play volleyball, but we didn't.
So that's it. We paid RM425, everything included, including food and transportation. The food is ok, its edible, some dishes were kinda nice. And if I say its edible, its definitely ok, because I don't take spicy food. So, if you guys ever go to Redang Lang Tengah Resort, maggi mee is not needed. Erm, personally, I wouldn't go back again. I prefer Berjaya Redang. But for RM425, full board, its definitely worth it. BUT, remember to fly, and not travel by bus.
On the way back.
After going to the beach and having a wonderful time snorkeling, I think I'm gonna go get my own snorkeling gear and flippers. Its more hygienic. And also an underwater camera if I can afford it. Oh, I came back, with a very nice slight tan. When I got home, my mum said I still looked kinda fair, so its ok. And one mosquito bite. I did apply lots and lots, and I mean a whole lot of sunblock and mosquito repellent. The only part of me which got sunburn was my scalp, at my hairline. I'm now applying moisturizer on my scalp so that it will heal faster. :)
Leaving the island, taken from the boat.
